Useful Information regarding our morgue services

Dying and death are painful and personal experiences for those that are dying and their loved ones caring for them

When the person dies at our hospital washing and positioning the body is best done where death occurs before stiffening of the body ( rigor mortis ) sets in. Rigor mortis happens within two to seven hours after death.

We provide death care for stillborn babies

By law, a baby must be buried if he or she is stillborn at or after 24 weeks.

Washing and cleaning the body

Washing the body is an act of intimacy and sign of respect. Continued respect for the person’s modesty is essential.

Washing someone's hair and body, and dressing them in their favorite attire

A mortuary refrigerator is used for the storage of human corpses awaiting identification or removal for autopsy or respectful burial. In modern times corpses have customarily been refrigerated to delay decomposition.
